Visual of face masks required in schools

Minnesotans over the age of five are to wear a face covering in all public indoor spaces and indoor businesses beginning July 25, 2020. This includes school buildings, the district office or while riding school transportation.

Gov. Walz has issued an executive order requiring face coverings. Face coverings will generally be required for all students, staff, and other people present in our school buildings, the district office or while riding school transportation. Please plan accordingly and be prepared with a face mask.

There are exceptions for wearing a face covering for anyone with a medical condition, mental health condition or disability that makes it unreasonable to maintain a face covering.

For programming in our buildings, mask “breaks” will be provided when students, teachers and staff are safely distanced, when eating or drinking or during other acceptable times as outlined in the order. Generally, we will be expecting and reinforcing the use of face masks at school to help protect everyone from the potential spread of the coronavirus.

Thank you for your partnership in implementing this practice intended to keep students, staff and community members safe.
