Students working on iPads

Spring Lake Park Schools’ students in grades 5, 8, 9, and 11 will participate in the 2019 Minnesota Student Survey.

The survey will be administered online to students at Westwood Intermediate and Middle School (grades 5 and 8), Spring Lake Park High School (grades 9 and 11) and Lighthouse School (grades 5, 8, 9 and 11) during the week of January 22.

The survey is conducted in schools across the state every three years. The survey is given to solicit useful information from students about how things are going at school, with their peers, and about health-related thoughts and behaviors. Information from the survey assists in guiding state programs.

Parents have been informed in the past about such surveys and federal law also requires the district to notify parents of the survey. The survey is anonymous and confidential. Students do not provide their names, student identification numbers or other personal information. No individuals or families can be identified. The results are reported on the school district’s students as a whole.

Participation in the survey is voluntary and parents can choose to have their child opt out of taking all or part of the survey.

In early January, parents of students in grades 5, 8, 9 and 11 will receive a letter from their child’s school explaining more about the survey. This information will include a form to have your child opt out of participating in the survey and how to review a copy of the survey.
