All grades 4-12 students in Spring Lake Park Schools will be provided an iPad for use in the classroom and to take home. For the 2017-2018 school year, the cost of insurance will be $10 per student, with a deductible for breaks.
When you select your insurance option, you and your student are agreeing that the district case will remain on the student's device at all times.
Purchasing iPad insurance is optional for families. However, all families must register online to accept or decline an insurance plan. Once you have selected and registered for an insurance option, your child will be eligible to receive an iPad on the distribution dates determined at each school. Students do not have to pay a fee to receive an iPad.
There are three options to choose from when registering for insurance:
- No upfront cost – insurance is declined and parents are responsible for the full cost of repair or replacement
- Spring Lake Park Insurance – $10 per student. There will be a deductible that will be required on breakage or stolen devices
- Student owned device – Student may bring their own personal device and have the district applications and profiles installed on the device
Filing a Claim
The damaged iPad must be presented to the school office or media center. A police report must be filed if theft occurred. The parent and student will be required to complete a claim form and pay the deductible. Every effort will be made to immediately replace the iPad with the same model of the damaged or stolen one. If the same model is not available, the student may receive an older model iPad.
