What does my student need to bring on the first day?
- A change of clothes. Shirt, pants, underwear and socks to leave in your child’s locker in case of accidents/spills.
- Appropriate outdoor clothing - we go outside daily
- A morning snack. We eat a small snack mid-morning between breakfast and lunch
- Items for personal time (see below)
Should students have a blanket for rest time?
Yes, there is personal time after lunch devoted to resting. Children are encouraged to rest their bodies; they do not have to nap. They will have their own cots to rest on so if they would like to bring a blanket, pillow and/or stuffed animal, they may. You can keep these items in your child’s locker. Please bring them home on a regular basis to wash.
Does my child need a snack?
Yes, please bring a morning snack for your child from home. An afternoon snack will be provided.
What is served for breakfast and lunch and is there a menu?
Breakfast and lunch are catered to Discovery Days from the high school cafeteria. At this time, only one choice is offered for each; there is not an alternate. If there is something on the menu your child will not eat, you may send a cold lunch from home.
- Breakfast is served from 7:45-8:30 a.m.
- Lunch is served at 12 p.m.
Should I send sunscreen with my student?
If you have a preschool or kindergarten student, please apply sunscreen on your child in the morning before arriving. Staff has SPF 30 to use for re-application in the afternoon. If you would rather your child use their own sunscreen, please send a labeled bottle.
