Classes

Spring Lake Park Schools offers 3- and 4-year-old preschool programs that run from September through May. Read the descriptions of our four preschool formats below to see what program would work best for you and your family. 

Preschool classes for the 2019-2020 school year will open for registration on February 1, 2019.

Class start and end times may change slightly based on the district school day start and end times.

Class Options

Preschool (half day)

Preschool prepares children for kindergarten by incorporating literacy, math, science, social studies, art, social/emotional development, and physical development into its curriculum. Preschool is aligned with the Spring Lake Park Schools kindergarten program.

  • Children attend independently two to five days per week
  • Attend preschool in the elementary school that your child will attend for kindergarten-4th grade or, if you are interested in a different class, check out one of our other sites. Visit SpringLakeParkSchools.org/AttendanceBoundary to see what neighborhood school your child will attend.
  • You must turn in your child's most recent Immunization records to complete your child's Preschool application. There are 4 ways to turn in your child's records:
    • Drop  off at at District Service Center (1415 81st Ave NE, Spring Lake Park)
    • Drop off at Centerview Early Childhood Office (10365 Davenport Street NE, Blaine - enter in door #2)
    • Send via email to earlychildhood@district16.org
    • Send via fax to the Early Childhood fax number at 763-600-5913

Classes for 4-year-olds 

  • $2,286 annually, 9 payments of $254
    • Monday-Friday, 1-3:30 p.m., Centerview
  • $1,548 annually, 9 payments of $172
    • Monday/Wednesday/Friday, 9:30 a.m.-noon, Centerview
    • Monday/Wednesday/Friday, 9:30 a.m.-noon, Northpoint
    • Monday/Wednesday/Friday, 1-3:30 p.m., Northpoint
    • Monday/Wednesday/Friday, 9:30 a.m.-noon, Park Terrace
    • Monday/Wednesday/Friday, 1-3:30 p.m., Park Terrace

Classes for 3-year-olds 

  • $1,242 annually, 9 payments of $138
    • Tuesday/Thursday, 9:30 a.m.-noon, Centerview
    • Tuesday/Thursday, 9:30 a.m.-noon Northpoint
    • Tuesday/Thursday, 1-3:30 p.m., Northpoint
    • Tuesday/Thursday, 9:30 a.m.-noon, Park Terrace
    • Tuesday/Thursday, 1-3:30 p.m., Park Terrace

Spanish Immersion Preschool (half day)

This program offers a pre-kindergarten experience for families interested in Spanish Immersion.

  • Children have a great capacity for second language comprehension at this age. Children in this class will become comfortable hearing Spanish spoken and will begin to understand phrases and directions in Spanish.
  • Students who attend Spanish Immersion class will have the opportunity to learn their preschool skills and begin to use the Spanish language.
  • You must turn in your child's most recent Immunization records to complete your child's Preschool application. There are 4 ways to turn in your child's records:

Free Preschool Classes

Families must apply for the following free preschool classes. Once eligibility has been determined, additional details with the locations and times will be communicated.

You must qualify by income for a free class. You must bring the following required documents to the District Service Center (1415 81st Ave NE, Spring Lake Park) so we can determine your eligibility.

- Page 1 of your IRS Federal Income Tax Form (most recent) or an official form documenting current enrollment in SNAP, MFIP, ACCAP, or foster care.

- If an older sibling qualifies for free or reduced priced meals, families may bring in the application approval instead of the IRS tax form

- Child’s original certified birth certificate (we will make a copy for our records)

- Child's most recent Immunization records

K-Readiness Preschool (five days per week, half day)

For children going to kindergarten in 2020 who are learning English or whose family qualifies by income. Funding from the state of Minnesota makes this free class possible.

Classes for 4-year-olds

  • Monday-Friday, half day a.m.

  • Monday-Friday, half day p.m.

K-Preparación Preescolar (para niños de 4 y 5 años que califiquen)

Ayude y prepare a su hijo a tener un futuro exitoso en la escuela. Esta clase es para niños que comenzarán el kindergarten en el otoño del 2020. Para que el programa sea gratis, su niño puede aplicar si cumple los siguientes requisitos:

  • Tener 4 años cumplidos antes del 1 de septiembre del 2019
  • Hablar español
  • Vivir en el distrito de Spring Lake Park
  • Comprobar ingresos económicos de la Familia
  • Familias con situaciones especiales también pueden aplicar

Preescolar para niños 4 y 5 años

  • Lunes a Viernes pm 

Clase de 3 años en español (Clase para niños de 3 años)

Esta clase es ideal para que su hijo(a) se sienta cómodo en un abiente escolar. Lo ayudará a desarrollar y reforzar habilidades de independencia y adquirir más confianza en si mismo.Como sabemos que la mejor manera para aprender es mediante el lenguaje nativo, la classe será totalmente en español. Discovery Days Preschool + Child Care (full day or school day)

This program offers kindergarten readiness for your child and child care while you work. Discovery Days prepares children for kindergarten by incorporating literacy, math, science, social studies, art, social/emotional development, and physical development into its curriculum.

  • Flexible scheduling options to meet the needs of your family. Customize your schedule based on the following:
    • Three to five days a week, Monday through Friday
    • Full day, 7 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.
    • School day, 9 a.m. - 4 p.m.
  • Children are eligible if they are 3- or 4-years-old by September 1, 2018 and are toilet trained

Discovery Days Summer 2019

This summer program offers kindergarten readiness for your child and child care while you work. Limited spots are available for summer 2019.

  • Children are eligible if they are 3- or 4-years-old by June 1, 2019 and are toilet trained.

  • Monday, June 10-Friday, August 23, 2019
