What year did you start working in Spring Lake Park Schools?
Why did you choose to join Spring Lake Park Schools?
I chose to join Spring Lake Park Schools because of the incredible students here and the wealth of experiences and background knowledge they bring with them to school. I am constantly in awe of the connections they make and what they share from their lives. The students really made it an easy choice!
What's the best part of your day, as an employee of Spring Lake Park Schools?
The best part of my day is the time I get to spend with our students. Whether this time is in class, during breakfast in the cafeteria, outside before school, or just passing in the halls, I always enjoy my time with them. The connections with students make me excited to get back to school every day I leave!
What do you do when you're not at work?
Outside of school I enjoy exercising, watching basketball and soccer, spending time with family and friends, listening to podcasts, trying new restaurants, and reading books and favorite authors. Two of my favorite authors right now are Ta-Nehisi Coates and Malcolm Gladwell.
How do you personalize learning for students?
I personalize learning by knowing each of my students by name, strength, interest and need. I use this knowledge to ensure what we are working on is meaningful and relevant to their lives. I strive to make sure each of my students is able to see themselves represented in what we are doing.
What makes you #SLPPantherProud?
I am #SLPPantherProud because of the students and staff I get to work with every day. I learn so much from my time spent with students. I am constantly reflecting on and improving my teaching based on my work with them. That can all be said for my time with colleagues as well. As an academic specialist, I get to be a part of many different teams and learn from many different educators. I am also fortunate to share a classroom with another incredible teacher I learn from every day.
