Long-time Panther and Northpoint Principal, Judi Kahoun, has decided to begin a transition toward retirement. She will step away from her role as principal of Northpoint Elementary at the end of the year and continue work next year on some focused projects across the district.

Judi has been an elementary educator for 39 years and has been a Panther since 1985. She was an elementary teacher for 19 years before becoming an education coordinator and then principal. Judi has been the principal at Northpoint since 2014, overseeing, among many other initiatives, the science of reading implementation and the transition to multi-age learning. 

I have been blessed to work at Northpoint for the past nine years. It is a wonderful learning community, and I will truly miss students, staff and families. It has been an honor and a pleasure. I am looking forward to continuing to work within SLP and spend time with my three grandchildren! Judi Kahoun

Next year, Judi will focus her time on supporting teachers in implementing elementary competencies and ongoing implementation of strong core reading and math instruction.

“Judi’s expertise in the science of reading, her passion for our personalized learning journey and her ability to coach and support staff, will be assets to this work across our schools,” says Jeff Ronneberg, superintendent.

Judi will transition effective July 1. The search for a new principal for Northpoint will be underway soon. More information will be shared with the community as the process begins.

“I’ve had the honor to work with Judi for 26 years. She is an immensely skilled and passionate educator and strong and caring leader. I celebrate with her as she begins her path toward retirement,” says Jeff. “I hope to move quickly to welcome a new leader for Northpoint and support the Northpoint team’s continued momentum.”
