Panther Pantry and Weekend Food Packs

We believe that children cannot learn and be successful if they are hungry. In 2013 we funded the beginning of the Panther Pantry and the Weekend Food Pack program.

Panther Pantry

A food pantry for students. Students and families experiencing homelessness or emergency situations are served by the Pantry. Non-perishable food, hygiene projects and basic toiletries are staples in our Pantry. The Panther Pantry is supported by the Panther Foundation, community organizations, individual donors and is managed by SLP students.

Weekend Food Packs

Nearly 40 percent of SLP students qualify for reduced or free meals. For many of these children, school meals may be the only meals they eat. This program provides a pack of food that consists of enough food for a weekend or school break. The packs are filled with items that are easy to prepare, require no other ingredients and provide nourishment. The packs are sourced from the Panther Pantry. We welcome specific items for our Weekend Pack program: Ready to heat meals and soups, tuna pouches, oatmeal packets, breakfast bars, fruit cups, fruit snacks, juice, granola bars, peanut butter and hummus cups, pre-packaged crackers, cracker sandwiches, etc.

We accept non-perishable food items that are within expiration dates. If you would like to donate to the Panther Pantry, please drop items off at the District Services Center at 1415 81st Avenue NE, Spring Lake Park, MN. Financial contributions are always welcomed and appreciated. Contact us for more information, 763-600-5550.
