Each year, we ask families to complete an Educational Benefits application. Many families are often surprised they qualify and you could be eligible for many great benefits that help your student and our schools.

Please take a few minutes to complete an application that you will receive at the end of the month in the mail or online, even if you don't think you may qualify. Note, if you have already applied and received a letter with your approval for the 2026-2027 school year, you do not need to apply again.

Campus Parent Portal stores your contact information so you receive district and school communication. Please take a few minutes to review and update the following in Campus Parent Portal before the school year begins:

1. Primary phone number
2. Emergency contact and phone number
3. Email addresses
4. Adding/removing household members

5. Communication preferences: you can indicate how you'd like to receive various communications - text, email, phone

If you need to make parent and guardian changes and updates, email pertinent legal documentation supporting the change to marss@district16.org. If you need to make primary address changes, call the district main office at 762-600-5018.

1.  Log into Campus Parent portal
2. Once you are logged in, select “more” on the left-side menu
3. To update information on any of the following sections you will see an “Update” button that will create an information change request. Once submitted, our enrollment office will review the information and will process the changes. If we have any questions, we will contact you
4. Click on “Address Information” to update your household phone number. To update address information, you will need to contact our enrollment office at 763-600-5018
5. Click on “Demographics” to update information on your child. If you have more than one child in the district you can change the active child from the selector on the upper right of the screen
6. The Demographics screen also allows you to add other people that are related to the child like grandparents that live in a different household
7. Click on the “Family Information” tab to update individual phone numbers, email addresses, family member and family relationships to each of your households
8. Click on the “Health” information tab to review health information and immunization

Why update your contact information? We'll be keeping in contact with you throughout the school year with:

1. Messages from your child's teacher(s)
2. Updates on your child's program, report cards
3. Your school’s weekly newsletter - emailed and texted home on most Wednesday evenings throughout the school year, with need to know and nice to know information and glimpses of your student's school experience
4. District news and announcements
5. Any concerns about attendance, illness, etc.
6. Automated phone calls, texts and email messages for emergency and/or weather-related school closings (snow days, water main breaks, etc.)

To determine if your student will receive SLP bus services, please view our interactive map. This will help determine if you live within the SLP boundaries, and if so, what school your child(ren) will attend. Please note, busing is generally not provided outside the Spring Lake Park School District boundaries.

Families who indicated they needed district transportation for this fall will receive bus route information in the mail the week of August 17, 2026. 

Yes. We use MyStop, which is web-based application available to parents and students that allows them access to live bus GPS information. Using a smartphone, tablet or desktop computer, parents and students can view the current location of buses on routes and the estimated time of arrival at their neighborhood bus stops.

Yes, breakfast and lunch will be provided at no charge for all students grades kindergarten-grade 12 this school year. While meals are provided at no cost, families who may be eligible should still apply for Educational Benefits. Please note, students who want to purchase additional food items will need to have money in their account in order to do so. 

Students have the option to purchase additional food items (second milk, extra entree, bottled water, etc). 

Add funds to your student's meal account:

• Online - Families can add money to their student's meal account through Campus Parent Portal. Please note, payments can only be taken online and not through the Campus Parent Portal mobile app.
• Cash - If you send cash with your child please place it in a sealed envelope and write your child's complete name, grade, and student ID on the envelope. Cash is deposited into your child's account the same day it is received. Send cash at your own risk. Cash is not preferred due to the inability to trace payments. Nutrition Services is not responsible for lost/stolen cash payments.
• Personal Check - If you send a check with your child please place it in a sealed envelope and write your child's complete name, grade, and student ID on the envelope.
  • Checks are deposited into your child's account the same day it is received by the kitchen manager
  • Make the check payable to: Spring Lake Park Schools
  • Write students' full name and student ID in the memo area of the check
• Visa or Mastercard - One time and Recurring  payments

All students in Spring Lake Park Schools must comply with Minnesota Immunization Laws. All immunizations need to be up-to-date by the start of the school year. Minnesota School Immunization Laws require ALL students enrolled in school to be immunized against diphtheria, tetanus, and pertussis, hepatitis B, ​meningitis and varicella.

The only exceptions are:

1. A student has had the chickenpox virus
2. Medical exemption ​with paperwork from your provider
3. Conscientious exemption ​with notarized exemption form

If you believe your child's records need to be updated with proof of immunizations, please bring or send these to your school nurse or call for verification. Learn more about immunizations at SLP and find a downloadable immunization form.

• Controlled medications (ex. Concerta, Adderall, Methylphenidate) must be brought to the health office by a parent/guardian. 
• If a student brings a non-controlled medication to school, the student must go directly to the health office with the medication, upon arrival to school. The medication bottle must be in a sealed envelope with the student's name, the name of the medication and the number of pills/doses. 
• Medication will be sent home with the student on the last day of school, unless a parent/guardian has made alternative arrangements ahead of time with the building health care specialist.

We are. There are many students in Spring Lake Park Schools who have severe allergies to tree nuts, peanuts, peanut butter, and/or products that contain nuts. Accidental ingestion or even touching a tiny trace of a nut may cause a potential fatal reaction for some students.

We need your help in supporting the following guidelines to make our classrooms peanut/nut aware and to prevent potential allergic reactions:

• Please do not send any snacks with your student containing nuts, peanuts, peanut butter or other nut products.
• If your child packs a lunch containing tree nuts, peanuts, peanut butter or other nut products, it must stay in a sealed container while being kept in the classroom.
• Students will be permitted to bring nut products as part of their lunch, as students with allergies sit at a separate table where there is adult supervision of food products.
• Nut aware tables will be clearly labeled in lunch rooms for students with allergies.
• If you need help in selecting appropriate snacks that do not include nuts or nut products, please visit SnackSafely.com for ideas.

Each student in Spring Lake Park Schools is issued a school-owned iPad, case, charging brick and charging cable to support their learning and provide equitable access to technology for all. Each of these items must be returned in good working condition when a student graduates or leaves the district.  

Student Responsibilities

• Follow expectations for responsible technology use. These are outlined in the Spring Lake Park Technology Responsible Use and Safety Policy. 
• Fully charge your iPad. Start each day with 100 percent battery. Use the charger provided by the district that works with your model of iPad. iPads require a more powerful USB charger than most phones (12W or higher).
• Update the iPad OS. Whenever updates are available, make sure you have the latest.
• Make sure you have enough storage. Storage is needed for classroom use, including applications and software updates. To see current usage, go to Settings > General > iPad Storage.
• Back up your data. Learn how to back up data on the iPad Resource Hub.
• Keep the iPad safe. Devices must never be left in an unlocked locker, visible in a parked car, or left in any unsupervised area. Do not lean on or place anything on the display, leave the iPad on the floor, or place it near liquids. iPads are particularly sensitive to excessive pressure on the screen. Be aware that iPads are frequently damaged by heavy or loose items in backpacks.
• Keep all district labels on iPads, cases and accessories. Personal cases are not allowed or supported. Please do not apply stickers, write on or mark iPad cases or accessories in any way. 

Repair, Replacement & Return

• Contact tech support for any repair, replacement or other iPad needs via email or 763-600-5555.
• Return damaged iPads and accessories immediately for repair or replacement. Every effort is made to replace the iPad and/or accessories with similar models as soon as possible to avoid disruptions.
• Fees are assessed for all damaged or missing equipment. Typical iPad repair and replacement fees range from $20-$100+.
• Return school-owned iPads and all accessories in good working condition upon graduation or when leaving the district. We do not accept non-district chargers. Prepare your iPad to turn in; follow instructions on the iPad Resource Hub.

As we near the beginning of a new school year, now is a great time to assess the status of your student's school-issued iPad and complete a little easy maintenance. Here are two steps to getting your student's iPad ready for the upcoming school year:

1. Update your student's iPad: Student iPads need to be wiped, set up and updated. This will free up storage and ensure the iPad's software has been fully updated to ensure a better experience. Follow the instructions at our iPad Resource Hub to make these updates so your student will be prepared and successful for the school year.

2. Report iPad issues: Let us know if your student's iPad is damaged, lost or stolen, or if you are having issues with accessories not working correctly. We want to get any issues resolved prior to the new school year. If accessories are lost, a fee will be applied online on Campus Parent Portal. Students in grades 1, 5 and 9 will be receiving new school-issued iPads for the 2026-2027 school year. 

Current student iPad exchange

• 1st grade students will be receiving their updated iPad during the first few weeks of the school year. This will take place during the school day. Since kindergarteners do not take their iPads home for the summer, incoming 1st graders will be receiving rather than exchanging. 
• 5^th grade students will be exchanging their current iPad during the first week of school. This will take place during the school day. 
• 9^th grade students will be exchanging their current iPad during the Spring Lake Park High School Meet and Greet on Tuesday, August 25 from 3-7 p.m.
• Lighthouse students will be exchanging their current iPad during the first week of school. This will take place during the school day. 

To get your student’s iPad ready for the exchange, bring the current school-owned iPad, case, charger, and cord to Meet and Greet. If any data is needed off the current iPad prior to the replacement, please review the backup instructions. 

If you cannot make the Meet and Greet, iPad replacement will be available once school starts. 

• Newly enrolled K-4 students will receive their iPad in the first couple weeks of the school year. This will take place during the school day. 
• Newly enrolled 5th grade students will receive their iPad during the first week of school. This will take place during the school day. 
• Newly enrolled 6-8th grade students will pick up their iPad during Meet and Greet on Tuesday, August 25. 
  • The grade 5-6 Meet and Greet is from 3-5 p.m.
  • The grade 7-8 Meet and Greet is from 5-7 p.m.
• Newly enrolled 9-12 grade students will pick up their iPad during Meet and Greet on Tuesday, August 25 from 3-7 p.m.
• Newly enrolled Lighthouse students will receive their iPad during the first week of school. This will take place during the school day.

Each school will post a newsletter on their website under News > School Newsletters (links are also available on this newsletter page) and email and text it home on most Wednesdays throughout the school year. These newsletters will contain a weekly message from your student's principal, Need to Know items, Upcoming Events, PTO information, Great News and more. It's important families read these newsletter weekly to ensure they are getting all of the important information needed to make this a great school year.

You will also receive periodic communication from Superintendent Ronneberg and other district leaders as well as individual communication from your student's teachers. 

The district uses a notification system to send emails, voice messages, text messages and mobile app push notifications. Families can customize their notification preferences and how they want to receive communication by following the step below. 

Update how you receive messages

1. Login to SpringLakeParkSchools.ParentLink.net using your district username and password
2. Once you are logged in, click on “Account” in the upper right-hand corner
3. In the Dashboard, select the “Delivery Preferences” button
4. Under the “Emergency” and "Other" headers, click on text (message bubble icon), phone numbers (phone icon) and email (envelope icon) to select what email and phone numbers should receive emergency messages
5. If you have opted out of text or email messages and would like to opt back in, follow these directions:
   • Phone calls: Call the phone hotline at "855-502-STOP (855-502-7867)" from the phone line that has been opted out.
   • Text (SMS) messages: Reply START to "60680" from the phone line that has been opted out for non-emergency messages. Reply START to "54968" for emergency messages.

Calendar Customization

If you’re looking customize your calendar to show events from the schools and programs you wish to view, follow these directions:

• First, navigate to the calendar webpage
• Under "Sort Calendar" hit the + District Calendar and + School Calendars buttons.
• These will allow you to see all the calendars for each school and the district. Select or deselect which schools/programs you want to see by clicking on the arrow next to the school
• When you've finished selecting schools/programs, click the "Update Calendar" button

• Under Search Calendar, you can now search for a specific keyword(s) or during a specific date range
• Schools are coded in two ways in the calendar - by color and by short school code. 
  • School color codes can be found under "Sort Calendars" when you select + School Calendars
  • Short school codes are:

    • WW = Westwood Intermediate and Middle School
    • CV = Centerview Elementary School
    • NP = Northpoint Elementary School

Free Mobile App

Download the free SLP mobile app in the App Store by searching Spring Lake Park Schools. It offers a look into life at Spring Lake Park Schools across school buildings and grade levels with feature stories, social media highlights, opportunities for the community, student spotlights, by the numbers facts and more. Yes. Many families in Spring Lake Park Schools speak and read more than one language. Many of our district communication platforms provide the ability to translate information into multiple languages.

School newsletters - To translate school newsletter information into another language, click on the newsletter in your email to open it in a web browser and at the top of the page, select the language from the dropdown menu.

Website - to translate our website into another language, click on the "Translate" button at the top of the webpage and select the language from the dropdown menu.

Mobile App - to translate our mobile app into another language, click on the settings icon and click “Select Language.” From here, you can select the language you want the app to translate content to.

Sometimes, staff, volunteers, news media, or others may take photos, videos, or audio recordings of students. These are used to share good news and show student learning and success. 

These pictures and stories might be shared on the school website, in newsletters, on social media, in yearbooks, or in other school materials. They could show large groups of students or sometimes highlight individual students. Student names might be shared, but not always. 

When a student joins our schools, parents or guardians can choose if they want to limit how photos or videos of their child are shared. This choice is saved in the student’s record and can be changed at any time. If a parent, guardian, or eligible student wants to limit photo or video use, they can complete the Photo / Media Opt-Out form. 

School staff always try to keep students with photo restrictions out of pictures or videos. But, we can’t promise this in big group settings, like during assemblies, while attending over large events or in hallways. 

Students and parents may only take photos or videos at school or school events with prior consent from the subject of the photo/video. Cameras are prohibited in restrooms and locker rooms.

School staff take the protection of student records and information very seriously. Our actions are aligned to school district policy which can be found at SpringLakeParkSchools.org/policies. There are some important highlights for families to know about Policy 515: Protection and Privacy of Pupil Records.  

Spring Lake Park Schools has designated “directory information” as public information shareable with others. If a parent, guardian, or eligible student wants to restrict the sharing of any type of directory information, they need to do so in writing by sending a request to the school principal. Restrictions will be noted on the student’s record and remain in place for the duration of the school year.  

In accordance with federal law, high schools are required to provide student contact information to military recruiters upon request. Parents/guardians and eligible students (18 years or older) have the right to opt out of this disclosure. To exercise this right, complete the Military Contact Opt-Out form to the school office by October 1.  

Educational records are those records directly related to the student and maintained by the school district. Parents/guardians and/or eligible students have the right to: 

1. inspect and review the student’s education records and can make this request through their school’s main office 

2. ask for changes to the record through the school’s main office 

3. consent to disclosures of personally identifiable information contained in the student’s education records 

4. file a complaint with the U.S. Department of Education regarding an alleged failure by the school district to comply with privacy requirements  

School officials, as defined in policy 515, may share educational records with others who have legitimate educational interest. The school district forwards education records on request to a school in which a student seeks or intends to enroll or is already enrolled as long as the disclosure is for purposes related to the student’s enrollment or transfer. Records may include suspension and expulsion records and, if applicable, a student’s history of violent behavior.

Spring Lake Park Schools uses different digital tools to help students learn. These tools and programs help students build the skills they need for the future.

We keep a list of the learning and testing tools we use. This list shows what student information each tool uses and includes any privacy agreements with the companies that make the tools.

Technology is an essential tool in learning. Access to the district’s technology systems, including the Internet, is governed by school district Policy 524: Internet, Technology and Cell Phone Acceptable Use and Safety.

Highlights:

• Students are not allowed to use school technology to make money. If a student uses it in a way that causes money to be owed, the student and their parents are responsible for paying any bills.
• When students use the Internet or send messages through school technologies, they should know that school staff can see what’s being shared. Emails and files are not private. Technology staff and others may check them as part of their jobs.
• The school owns everything stored on its computers and networks. Students should not expect full privacy when using school technologies.
• If students break the rules for using computers, the Internet, or other devices, they may lose their access and face other consequences from the school or even the law. The school follows local, state, and federal laws for technology use.
• The school works hard to block inappropriate content online, but no system is perfect. Parents/guardians should talk with their children about Internet safety and set rules for how they use the Internet.
• The school is not responsible if students lose files or damage their own devices while using school technology. This includes things like flash drives, memory cards, or personal devices and storage.

 Parent Responsibility

At home, parents are responsible for guiding their child’s use of the Internet, just like with TV, phones, or movies. If students use school technology from home, parents should watch how it’s being used.

If parents don’t want their child using the Internet for certain school work, they can ask the school for other options. These requests should go to the main office at the student’s school.

Even though schools try hard to keep everyone safe, accidents can still happen. Things like recess, field trips, and daily activities may lead to injuries.

The school does not pay for medical bills if a student gets hurt at school. If your child gets injured during the school day or at after-school activities, your family’s health insurance would need to cover the costs.

Families can choose to buy extra accident insurance for their child. This is optional. If you sign up, your child can get coverage. Parents or guardians are in charge of signing up and paying for the insurance.

Spring Lake Park High School offers more than 50 student-based interest clubs and activities. These will be available after the start of the school year. From Speech and Robotics to Green Club and Knowledge Bowl, there are tons of activities for students to pick from. Stay tuned for more information regarding start dates and times. We do! Most days that school is not in session, our Learning Ventures Child Care (grades K-6) is open. Each non school day features on-site activities that give students the opportunity to be creative, think critically, develop self-direction and experience a sense of belonging.
