What year did you start working in Spring Lake Park Schools?
Why did you choose to join Spring Lake Park Schools?
When I finished my education program, I started looking into districts with similar visions, purpose, and excitement of learning that I had. When I came across SLP I knew that this would be a place I would be proud to call home. I chose a district that would continue to educate and push my own thinking as a teacher. I chose a district that would always put students at the front of their work. I chose SLP!
What's the best part of your day, as an employee of Spring Lake Park Schools?
The best part of my day is our closing circe. We take a few minutes to share "one thing that made you smile." It is so empowering for me as their teacher to sit back and hear what had an impact on their day. Its a great way to end our day together!
What do you do when you're not at work?
When I'm not being a kindergarten teacher, I love to spend time with my family! We love to do anything outside! Hiking, camping, exploring.
I also love reading! In the winter I love to curl up with a great book and a glass of hot chocolate.
How do you personalize learning for your students?
Personalized learning comes in all shapes and sizes in my classroom! Before a student walks into my classroom, I am thinking about what do they need from me to be successful in their learning today? A special morning pep talk on flipgrid, a flipped video lesson on Seesaw, reading a favorite book to them during specialist time, a paper copy or a digital copy of the same lesson. Its like a big map when I plan out my day, and who I plan it out for. All of my students are unique and special in different ways, its great to be able to meet their needs in different ways.
What makes you #SLPPantherProud?
I am #SLPPantherProud, because we are always asking the question "How might we?" How might we create self-directed learners? How might we help our students with something? How might we be more purposeful with this time of the day? We are constantly pausing to ask questions and reflect to create a better learning community for our kiddos- and that's something to be #SLPPantherProud about!
