What year did you start working in Spring Lake Park Schools?

Why did you choose to join Spring Lake Park Schools?
Spring Lake Park is known for its innovation and student centered focus. I want to challenge my students to look outside the box and rely on their own skills, imagination and problem solving skills to create solutions to the problems set before them. Spring Lake Park was the perfect choice.

What's the best part of your day, as an employee of Spring Lake Park Schools?
The best part of my day is definitely seeing the kids reach that moment of discovery when their project really starts coming together, or when they discover a unique way to solve a particularly stubborn problem.

What do you do when you're not at work?
I love to travel with my wife who is from China. We do a great day of exploring Minnesota with our rescue kitten Ghost. I also try to spend as much time outside with a camera as possible.

How do you personalize learning for students?
Each project the kids face in STEM is geared towards solving a particular real-world problem. The kids are encouraged to find their own solution and run with it. I act more as a guide in case they lose sight of the path they have chosen. Therefore, each project is geared intimately towards each student, as they are the ones who chose how to go about solving the challenge.

What makes you #SLPPantherProud?
Spending each day with these remarkable students, with such talented and dedicated teachers, such supportive and encouraging administrations and all of the insanely talented and dedicated support staff. It is truly a remarkable school to be a part of.
