Spring Lake Park Schools is hosting a number of events in January and February to help current and incoming families prepare for the next steps in their students’ education. Whether you are looking to enroll a student, preparing for a school transition or registering for classes, we hope students and families can join us to learn more.

Kindergarten Kickoff for the Class of 2035

Each of our elementary schools is hosting a kickoff event for future kindergarteners and their families to attend together. A personalized learning experience begins by getting to know each other. At this event, you’ll learn about kindergarten at SLP, take a tour of the building, engage in fun activities and meet the building principal. Mark your calendar and plan to attend an upcoming kickoff event. 

  • Woodcrest Spanish Immersion, Tuesday, January 25, 5:30-7 p.m. – please note, this session is specifically for families interested in Spanish Immersion programming. Learn about the benefits of immersion, curriculum and experience.
  • Centerview Elementary, Thursday, January 27, 5:30-7 p.m.
  • Park Terrace Elementary, Tuesday, February 1, 5:30-7 p.m.
  • Northpoint Elementary, Thursday, February 3, 5:30-7 p.m.

Remember to enroll by Monday, February 28, 2022. This is the priority placement deadline that provides the best opportunity for your first choice.

Introduction to Westwood for 4th grade families

When students finish fourth grade at our Spring Lake Park elementary schools, they transition to 5th grade at Westwood Intermediate and Middle School. Families and students are invited to attend an Introduction to Westwood session to learn more about the school, the transition to 5th grade and to meet the Westwood team. 

Attend a virtual session Tuesday, January 25

Attend the Westwood Welcome Thursday, February 10, 5:30-7:30 p.m.
Fourth grade students and their families will have an opportunity to visit Westwood in-person on February 10, 5:30-7:30 p.m. You can participate in a brief overview session or several topic-specific sessions and tour the building.

High School Kickoff and Registration for 8th grade families

Over the coming weeks, there will be opportunities for 8th graders and their families to learn more about Spring Lake Park High School, including course offerings, program options, athletics and activities and graduation requirements. Families and students are welcome to attend these events online or in-person but please note the February 9 event is specifically geared toward 8th graders.

There are several key dates for families to know about:

  • January 19, 20, 26: Online information sessions for grades 8-11 families. Each session is the same.
  • Monday, January 31 – High School registration opens for the 2022-2023 school year.
  • Week of January 31 — High school counselors meet with 8th graders at Westwood to begin their orientation to the high school and to create their 4-year plan.
  • Wednesday, February 9 - In-person High School Kickoff and Registration event. Additional details will be available soon.
  • Wednesday, February 23 – High school registration closes for the 2023-2023 school year.

Registration and Information Sessions for grades 9-11

High school students in 9th, 10th and 11th grade will register for their 2022-2023 classes starting Monday, January 31. Now is the time for students to review course offerings, program options, athletics and activities and graduation requirements.

There are several important dates for families to know about:

  • January 19, 20, 26: Online information sessions for grades 8-11 families. Each session is the same.
  • Tuesday, January 25: In-person information session for families at Spring Lake Park High School at 6 p.m. This will cover the same content as the online sessions.
  • Monday, January 31 – High School registration opens for the 2022-2023 school year.
  • Wednesday, February 23 – High school registration closes for the 2023-2023 school year.

SLP welcome event for families new to the district - February 15, 6:30 p.m.

For families considering SLP School or enrolling for the first time, this in-person event on February 15 at 6:30 p.m. provides an opportunity to learn more about Spring Lake Park High School, take a tour and get answers to questions. Registration is required. Tours also are available by contacting the school office (763-600-5100).
