Levy 2025

The results are in!

Unofficial results are now available from the November 4, 2025 election. The Spring Lake Park Schools’ operating levy referendum question was overwhelmingly approved with 66 percent of the vote. Four community members were reelected to continue their service on the school board.

The 2-step operating levy referendum question received overwhelming approval and will be in place for 10 years beginning in 2026. This is the first time voter-approved operating levy dollars have increased since 2002.

“As a school district, we are fortunate and grateful for strong, long-standing support from our community,” says Jeff Ronneberg, Ed.D., Superintendent of Spring Lake Park Schools. “To have 66 percent of those voting say ‘yes’ to this school funding is amazing. These funds are critical to our future and will help us maintain the great programming we have for kids.”

Our Spring Lake Park Schools residents in Blaine, Fridley and Spring Lake Park are being asked to consider an operating levy referendum question on the November 4, 2025 ballot to maintain essentials for learning.

The Question

The question on the ballot includes two steps:

  • Step 1 increases the operating levy by $550 per student  starting in 2026 with a tax impact of less than $18/month on an average home value of $350K.
  • Step 2 increase the operating levy by an additional $380 beginning in 2029 with no net tax impact ($0/month). The district has timed this to coincide with expiring debt to avoid additional taxes. This will bring the total of the operating levy to $930.

This approach minimizes the impact on taxpayers and generates funding for our schools when it’s needed.

Inflation is included beginning in 2029. The average rate of inflation is predicted to be less than 2.5% through at least 2031. An increase of 2.5% on $18 per month is about 45 cents.

Learning Impacts

We only ask for what we need when we need it; additional operating levy funds will help us:

MAINTAIN:

  • Teachers and staff
  • Current academic programs and support
  • Critical safety and security infrastructure
  • School facilities

ENHANCE:

  • Career and technical preparation
  • College credit offerings

How we stack up

Out of the Twin Cities metro school districts, Spring Lake Park Schools’ voter-approved operating levy is the lowest. This graphic shows current operating levy amounts for neighbor districts and districts similar to us. With the passage of the question, the operating levy amount remains modest and comparable to some of our neighbors and similar districts.
