Fourth graders stand in front of a sign and are welcomed back to the first day of the school year

A new year has begun for students at Spring Lake Park Schools, and we’re loving all the first day vibes. The first day photo album captures all the energy, excitement – and yes, nerves – of the first day of school. There were plenty of smiles, fist bumps and hugs as students began a new year with endless possibilities ahead.

As the sun rose over quiet neighborhoods, yellow buses returned to the streets. A whisper of fall weather joined the buzz of excitement. Children with backpacks slung over their shoulders and squeaky new shoes made their way through school doors to a warm welcome inside. The magical moments on day one focused on friendships and possibilities.

Spring Lake Park Schools welcomed students in kindergarten through 9th grade to their first day on September 3. Returning students in grades 10-12 joined them September 4.

A majority of kindergarteners were fresh from their Kinder Camp experience over three half days in August. After practicing school routines and meeting teachers, even these newest learners began their year with expert-like confidence – and even a little swagger. There were plenty of friendly adults to help manage a few tears and ease any anxiety.

At Spring Lake Park High School, incoming 9th graders and other new students spent their first day getting oriented to the high school building and school expectations. Panther Mentors, experienced high schoolers, spent the day helping ease new students into their new Panther experience.

The first days – and weeks – of school are focused on creating a strong Panther community. There’s a lot of time spent getting to know each other, building relationships and learning important routines. Strong foundations set the tone for the year ahead.
