Panther student-athletes Gabe Myren and Blake Remme each scored their 1,000th point during recent basketball games. This makes them the eighth and ninth Panther boys’ basketball players in school history to reach the 1,000 point milestone.

Gabe scored 19 points during the December 3 away game against Fridley high school, improving his career point total to 1,002 points, moving him to eighth place on the Panther Boys’ Basketball all-time career scoring list and making him the eighth player in school history to score 1,000 points. Gabe is a four-year starter, two-year captain, two-time Northwest Suburban Conference (NWSC) player as well as the all-time school career steal leader.

In addition to this historic feat, Gabe also recently committed to continue his academic and basketball career at the collegiate level, signing a National Letter of Intent for Minnesota State University, Moorhead.

Blake reached the 1,000 point milestone at the December 7 game against North St. Paul High School, scoring 21 and improving his career total to 1013 points, making him the ninth player in school history to score 1,000 points. Blake is a senior captain, a three-year starter, a two-time NWSC player and a scoring leader for the past two seasons.

Blake also plans to continue his academic and basketball career at the collegiate level after graduating. He has a number of schools recruiting him and plans to make a decision in the new year.

Before Gabe and Blake, TC Robinson was the last to reach the 1,000 point milestone during the 2013-2014 season. During the 2011-2012 season, student-athlete Sean Scott set the school’s all-time career scoring mark with 1414 points. Both Gabe and Blake will challenge that total this season.

It was a very special week for two outstanding, hardworking and very deserving players to reach that 1,000 point milestone just one game apart. Gabe and Blake have definitely been the leaders of our resurgence as a team and a program over these past few years. They are also very positive role models and are student-athletes that our younger players can look up to and try to emulate. Boys’ basketball head coach Grant Guzy
