What teacher or teachers have had the biggest impact on your educational journey?
Mr. Lukkasson and Ms. Tycast have had a big impact on me because I have had them all four years of high school, which is rare. Band is a big part of my life, so I consider them a big part of my life as well. Also, Mr. Stephenson had a positive impact on me because he made economics interesting and fun even though it was definitely not my favorite class. Ms. Hatchner is another teacher that stands out to me. She was an amazing teacher and she really cared about my wellbeing, my future and always tried to stay as informed as possible about my life. Because of her, I have decided to declare a second major in Spanish.

What's your favorite school memory?
I don't really have one memory that I cherish above all the others, but I remember feeling so accomplished on the last day of freshman year. It felt great to know I had really survived my first year of high school. It really did fly by. Also, Cuba was amazing, but that's a whole other topic in and of itself.

What are your plans after graduation?
After graduation, I will be attending the University of Wisconsin Madison to double major in international studies and Spanish.

How has Spring Lake Park Schools prepared you for your future?
SLP has prepared me for my future by allowing me to take rigorous coursework while also participating in a ton of activities. My teachers always said I could do it all and they were right.

What advice do you have for incoming ninth graders or students new to Spring Lake Park High School?
My advice for incoming students is to not be afraid to take rigorous coursework. Even if you think you won't do well, you may just surprise yourself.

What are you doing to stay busy during the pandemic?
During quarantine, I am spending way to much time texting my friends and watching tik toks, but I am also getting ready for college, applying for scholarships, and trying to get to know people also going to UW Madison over social media.

What makes you SLP Panther Proud?
What makes me Panther Proud is knowing that I am surrounded by so many students who are eager to help their fellow classmates and the surrounding community. Volunteering is a huge thing at SLP, and I am happy that I got to be a part of a class that cares so much about going out of their way to help others.
