Discovery Days Child Care, Ages 3-5
Discovery Days offers kindergarten readiness & child care for your child while you work. The program prepares children for kindergarten by integrating literacy, math, science, social studies, art, social/emotional development, and physical development throughout its curriculum activities.
Discovery Days follows the school-year calendar. We are open for "Non School Day" services on most days that school is closed.
Who: Children who are 3- or 4-years old by September 1 of the 2023-2024 school year, and mostly toilet-trained. (no pull-ups or diapers)
When: Open 7 a.m.–5:30 p.m. on school days and most non-school days from September 5, 2023 – June 6, 2024
Where: Conveniently located at our Early Childhood Centers at Centerview Elementary and the District Services Center
Flexible Scheduling: Three to five days per week, Monday through Friday. Full-day (7 a.m.-5:30 p.m.) and Partial-day (9 a.m.-4:00 p.m.) options are available.
Breakfast, Lunch, and Afternoon Snack: Breakfast and lunch are provided by SLP Schools' Nutrition Services Department on school days. When school is not in session, a bag lunch and beverage from home will be needed. Breakfast on non school days and all afternoon snacks are provided by the Discovery Days program.
Spring Lake Park Schools is participating in the 2023 Summer Food Service Program (SFSP). Non School Days: Most days when school is closed, Discovery Days is still open for care. These dates are NOT part of your regular contracted care. Families must register for the dates as needed. All care on Non School Days is provided at the Centerview location. A bag lunch and beverage from home will be needed. Breakfast on non school days and all afternoon snacks are provided by the Discovery Days program.
Dates for Non School Days of 2023-2024 are: October 16, 17, 18, 19, December 1, 4, 22, 27, 28, 29, February 15, 16, March 8, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, and April 26.
Dates when Child Care is closed for 2023-2024: October 20, November 23, 24, December 25, 26, January 1, 15, February 19, March 18, 29, May 27, and June 7.
Registration: Registration for our Discovery Days program opens on Wednesday, March 1. Our spaces fill quickly. Do NOT wait to register if you would like a spot in our program.
Starting on or about March 10, registrations will be reviewed in the order that they were received by our online system. In order for a registration to be processed, all Community Education program balances must be paid in full. Accounts with a balance overdue will not be processed.
Our Child Care programs have a limited number of full-time and part-time spots. Upon confirmation by our registration staff that there is a spot for your child, the registration will be processed and the registration fee will be collected. Registrants will receive an email confirmation that the registration is complete.

Discovery Days registration will open March 1. Register early to avoid placement on a wait list.
