A student’s school experience is an important part of your family’s life. Each day, we work tirelessly to know each student’s strengths, interests and needs, create a sense of belonging and learning experiences that engage and delight.

There are also the practical aspects of school – start and end times, procedures for absences, transportation, meals and more. We’ve compiled the basic information about how our schools operate in this handbook for students and families. Please review the information and refer to it, as needed, throughout the year.

Each year, we develop a School Improvement and Innovation Plan. The plan aligns to our Spring Lake Park Schools strategic plan and vision and includes projects to ensure – engaged and enthusiastic learners, effective operations, and communications and connections. Projects are identified based on student learning results and an assessment of how we are doing in implementing our plans and strategies. These projects guide our focus for staff professional learning and implementation activities.

Engaged and Enthusiastic Learners: Continuously improve personalized instruction and responsiveness to meet our students’ unique and varied needs.

• Deepen Innovative and Personalized Learning: Continue development and implementation of core elements of personalized learning – competency-based learning, learner profiles, personal learner maps, and flexible learning environments.
• Deepen Implementation of Core and Small Group Reading Instruction: Provide learning and support for teachers to implement the SLP Reading Framework and establish processes to measure student progress.
• Deepen Implementation of Core and Targeted Math Instruction: Provide learning and support for teachers to implement the SLP Math Framework and establish processes to measure student progress.
•  Strengthen Understanding and Implementation of Proactive Student Supports: Provide learning and support to implement core practices and strategies for creating a Learner-Centered Environment.

Effective Operations: Improve our effective management of human, financial and physical resources.

• Implement the Balance Assessment Framework: Create a purposeful data collection warehouse that aligns with our SLP balanced assessment framework to inform learning, teaching and personalization for our students.
• Enhance Collective Staff Efficacy: Build a shared belief that through our collective actions, staff can influence student outcomes and increase achievement in all students.

Communications and Connections: Increase the connection, engagement and support of our families and communities.

• Enhance Partnerships with Families: Build strong relationships with families through two-way communication, partnering to ensure student learning and engagement.
