Our Panther student-athletes were awarded for excelling in the classroom this winter season. The Spring Lake Park girls’ hockey team received a team academic award and five members of the boys’ wrestling team received academic awards for their dedication on the ice and mat as well as in the classroom.

The girls’ hockey team was rewarded the 5AA Team Academic Award. The team received the award based on the team’s GPA of the top 12 students. The top teams from each section are then compared to determine the Class A and Class AA State Team Champions.

Five members of the Panther Wrestling Team earned the 4AAA Academic Award for achieving a GPA over 3.3. Award winners include Eric Bratsch, Chris Curtis (not pictured), John Labelle, Jacob McLellan and Ashton Singer.

“We are so proud of these student-athletes,” said interim activities and athletics director Will Wackman. “They are examples for all of us. Their accomplishments on the mat and on the ice as well as in the classroom show how well-rounded they are. It is great to have coaches, advisors and athletes who believe that being a champion in the arena and the classroom is what SLPHS athletics and activities programs are all about.”
