Nine members of the FCCLA chapter who are advancing to state smiling

Nine members of the Spring Lake Park High School Family, Career and Community Leaders of American (FCCLA) chapter will advance to the state competition in March after competing at the regional FCCLA competition.

During the competition, junior Supy Patel scored a perfect 100 during her leadership presentation. She was one of three Minnesota FCCLA chapter members to earn a perfect score.

FCCLA members advancing to state and their projects:

10th grade:

  • Kawthar Al-Hadad: Career Investigation – an in-depth investigation around having a career as a Registered Nurse
  • Madison Cole: Chapter in Review Portfolio a review of everything the SLPHS FCCLA chapter did throughout the year
  • Genesis Miranda-Quezada: Laws of Life Essay an essay on developing self-confidence and how joining FCCLA has helped her develop some of that self-confidence
  • Lesley Ruiz: FCCLA in Action a display of the chapter’s annual Sock Drive

11th grade:

  • Cassidy Auld: Chapter Service Project Portfolio a portfolio on the chapter’s annual Sock Drive
  • Shivangi Pandey: Professional Presentation a presentation on employability skills
  • Supy Patel: Leadership Presentation – a presentation on how to be an effective leader
  • Bryson Rea: Sustainability Challenge for this challenge, Bryson researched reflectors and other devices that would be placed on highways to help drivers see where the lanes are, especially during bad weather, in order to make roads safer for drivers. He also recently presented this idea at a Blaine Council Meeting in an Open Forum and has made some great connections with Public Works, a department aimed to build, operate and maintain public infrastructure
  • Katelyn Thoennes: Sports Nutrition a presentation around how she balances dance, nutrition, sleep and other factors

The state competition will take place March 26-28 in Bloomington, Minnesota.
