Team Philosophy
As a coaching staff we will instruct each player on the proper fundamentals of baseball and put them in the best position to make them and the team successful. Players will be taught to always show respect to teammates, coaches, opponents, umpires, equipment and the game itself.
Varsity
The maximum number of varsity players will be 15. The varsity team is made up with the players with the highest ability, regardless of grade. Not all players may see the field on a regular basis. All playing time decisions made by the coaching staff are in the best interest of the team and will not be debated. Playoff roster is expanded to 18.
Junior Varsity
The maximum number of players will be 15. The goal of the JV is to give players the opportunity to play regularly in order to continue development of their skills. All players, if they are at practice, work hard and follow team rules, have the opportunity to play in each game. Time, score, and situations may make this unattainable. Varsity players who are not seeing consistent playing time may play in JV games as deemed necessary by the coaching staff.
Grade 9 and B-Squad
The maximum number of players will be 15. The goal is to work on the basic fundamentals and develop the players. All players, if they are at practice, work hard and follow team rules, have the opportunity to play in each game. Time, score, and situations may make this unattainable.
Dress code
Every player will wear proper baseball practice gear and the correct uniform for each game and follow MSHSL rules.
Code of Conduct
All MSHSL rules apply. Any misconduct may result in suspension of a game(s). Coaches, and Athletic Director will determine fair consequences according to incident.
Respect
Players, coaches, and parents are expected to respect each other, as well as the officials and other teams at all times. Positive support of players is expected when in attendance.
Traveling
All players are expected to ride the bus. If for some reason a player can’t ride the bus, a note from their parent must be cleared through the athletic office and given to the coach ahead of time. Players are only allowed to go home with their own parents.
Attendance
Players are expected to be at all practices and events. An unexcused absence will result in decreased playing time. Practice time is start time, be there early. If you miss due to detention or suspension you are not representing yourself, the program, or your team respectfully, and you will not be allowed to represent your team on the field.
Coaches Availability
The coaching staff is not available to meet during practice time or game days. Please handle situations through the following process.
- Player will approach coach and set up a time to discuss issue at hand
- Coach will meet with Head coach and discuss issue and options. A decision will be made and reported back to player.
- Player and parents can set an appointment up with Athletic Director if they choose to do so after decision.
