From the Principal: SMART goals for student learning

Greetings to all of our families!  As we have settled in during this first month of school, our staff is working diligently to provide each and every student with a positive learning environment and the best education possible.

Our staff meets weekly in their Professional Learning Communities to reflect on student learning and to adjust teaching strategies for each child. Teachers collect information from classroom observations, discussion with students, and data that we receive from student assessments.

We use all of this information in order to set SMART goals for student learning.  The term SMART goal describes a goal that is Strategic and Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Result-based, and Time-bound.

At approximately six week intervals we look at the gains we made in reaching that SMART goal.

We then begin the process again, in order to best meet our student needs and to live our district purpose of “High expectations, high achievement for all. No excuses.”
