Choosing 'Just Right' Books
Ideas about books to read come from many sources: friends, teachers, family, library media specialists and the library catalog. All are good ways to get ideas for books. No matter how you get suggestions for reading, the key is for each of you to lean to choose the right book for you.

There are two categories of decisions to make when you are choosing a book:

Five Finger Test

Test your book. Read one page. Put up a finger for each word you don't know. Then read below.

1 finger - Easy to read. Have fun!
2 fingers - Just right. Enjoy!
3 fingers - Challenging, but try it. You may need some help.
4 fingers - Very challenging. Read with a partner.
5 fingers - Too hard. Save it for later or have someone read it to you.
