iPad, iPod Phase-In Plan

Device Phase-In PlanSpring Lake Park School District's plan for technology learning devices to be phased in during the 2012-13 school year:

Kindergarten: iPod Touch

One classroom set for every four classes

 
Grade 1: iPod Touch

One classroom set for every two classes.

 
Grade 2: iPod Touch

One device for every student.

 
Grades 3-12: iPad

One device for every student

 
Timeline/Roll-Out

Phase I: September 2012
Lead Learner Teachers from Westwood Intermediate and Westwood Middle School who participated in intensive training were the first to have classroom sets of iPads to use in their classrooms beginning the last week of September.

Phase II: October 2012
Two teams at Westwood Intermediate and Middle School moved to “24/7” with the iPads allowed to go home. Some  classrooms of students from the high school began receiving iPads and some K-3 classrooms received iPads or iPod Touches.

Phase III: December 2012/January 2013
In this phase, one grade level at Westwood Intermediate School, one grade level at Westwood Middle School, and three classrooms at the high school are scheduled to begin bringing their devices home (24/7 learning) in January.

Phase IV: January-February 2013
The final roll-out of devices to all students in all schools will begin mid-January with full implementation expected by the end of February. Early Childhood Family Education classrooms will also have the opportunity to make use of new technologies.
