Four Minnesota Teacher of the Year candidates are from Spring Lake Park

Education MinnesotaOn January 31, a field of 128 candidates for Minnesota Teacher of the Year was announced by Education Minnesota.  They are pre-kindergarten through 12th-grade educators from both public and private schools.

Of the 128 educators from throughout the state of Minnesota, four are from the Spring Lake Park School District.

They are:

  • Sada Ganske, Science teacher, Westwood Middle School
  • Jen Legatt, Continuous Improvement Coach, Spring Lake Park High School
  • Laura Pena-Kennedy, kindergarten teacher, Woodcrest Elementary Spanish Immersion
  • Daniela Perez, second grade teacher, Woodcrest Elementary Spanish Immersion

The 50th Annual Minnesota Teacher of the Year will be announced on Sunday, May 4, This year's program continues the fifty-year tradition of honoring excellence in teaching in Minnesota.

In the coming weeks, a 25-member panel of community leaders will name a group of semifinalists and finalists.

Congratulations to Sada Ganske, Jen Legatt, Laura Pena-Kennedy, and Daniela Perez for already bringing honor to their profession and to their school district.
