The Spring Lake Park Schools Panther Foundation, in partnership with the Spring Lake Park School District, is proud to announce the 3rd Annual 5K and Family Carnival on Saturday, October 5 – to kick-off Homecoming week - at Panther Stadium on the Spring Lake Park High School campus.
It’s family-friendly fun, it’s a great morning for the entire family with both a 5K and 2K Run/Walk, Panther Run for Kids, and Family Carnival. There will also be booths featuring community organizations and sponsors, and concessions provided by the Spring Lake Park Lions Club.
The 5K and 2K Run/Walk is rain or shine. The Family Carnival may be moved indoors in the event of rain.
Online registration is open now and early bird rates are available until September 22 – and pre-registration will make check-in at the event much quicker. Registration on the day of the event begins at 9:00 am in the high school main entrance/rotunda. Full details and online registration here.
5K and 2K Walk/Runs
5K Run/Walk participants will start promptly at 10:00 am at Spring Lake Park High School’s Panther Stadium, travel around the high school property, move down Able Street towards Osborne, travel Osborne to Terrace, and then to 80th and back to the high school. This course is fun for the experienced runner or the casual walker with a stroller or wagon. The 2K will be a once-around-the-high school campus.
Panther Run for Kids
New this year is the Panther Run beginning at 9:30 am. Kids will have a chance to run one lap around the track and try to catch the Spring Lake Park Panther mascot.
In addition to the 5K & 2K, the Panther Foundation is hosting a Family Carnival to be held outdoors at Panther Stadium – and moved indoors in the event of rain. The Carnival, from 9:00 am - 12:00 noon, will feature huge inflatable bouncers, face painting, crazy hair, and other children's activities and entertainment.
Evan Johnston, Panther Foundation chairperson, said "For the third year in a row, we look forward to bringing our community together on a beautiful fall Saturday to kick-off Homecoming Week and to promote health, wellness, and a sense of community. At the same time we’ll raise awareness and some funds for the Panther Foundation’s efforts to turn contributions into grants and special projects that enrich teaching and learning and benefit students throughout the school district”
“I want to give a special thanks to Allina Health-Unity Hospital,” Johnston added, for its donation which will allow a number of families to participate in the event -- financially-- who otherwise might not have been able."
