Seniors Jack Fish and Emily Lukens were crowned 2012 Homecoming King and Queen on Wednesday evening.

Update: A school's Homecoming doesn't get any better than this!  Panther Stadium was filled on Friday as the the school community witnessed a 39-0 Spring Lake Park High School Panthers victory over the Polars of No. St. Paul. This total team effort by the now 5-0 on the season Panthers football team followed a tailgate party and parade attended by community members of all ages.

While the Sept. 24-29 Homecoming Week is filled with spirit-filled events for students such as a powderpuff football game, dance, pepfest, and themed dress-up days (view Homecoming 2012 "It's Time for a Meltdown"), there are also some great opportunity for families and the entire community to participate in Homecoming Week activities including:

The annual Homecoming Coronation is 7:15 pm in the Fine Arts Center ($1.00 students, $2.00 adults).

Friday is a great day for community participation with a tailgating event and parade preceding the big Homecoming football game with the Panthers of Spring Lake Park High School taking on the Polar of North St. Paul High School

Tailgate Event is 4:30 -6:30 pm with food, booths, and fun outside the main entrance's rotunda
Parade is 5:30 pm, the route is along the front driveway of the main entrance, passing right in front of the tailgate party.
Football Game is at 7:00 pm at Panther Stadium, Spring Lake Park vs North St. Paul. ($4.00 students, $6.00 adults, free for age 60 and above.)

The Panther Foundation's 2nd Annual Family Fun and 2K/5K Fun Walk & Run, a great family event that promotes health and wellness for all ages, will take place at Spring Lake Park High School on Saturday. Pre-registration is encouraged to avoid lines and waiting. Fee ($10 youth, $20 age 13 and above) includes walk/run entry, shirt, and entry to Family Fun zone. The family 2K/5K Fun Walk & Run will start at the high school's Panther Stadium at 11 am. (Registration begins at 10 am in the rotunda.) For 2K participants, it's a lap around the school, for 5K it's a loop around Spring Lake Park neighborhood bordered by Able, Osborne, Terrace and 80th.

The Family Fun part is from 10 am to 1 pm at Panther Stadium. You'll find lots of opportunities for family fun with food, giant inflatable bouncers, children's activities, entertainment by musicians from the high school bands, and a booth with the latest Panther spirit ware for sale (cash, check, credit card). The Family Fun Zone is free if you participate in the Walk/Run, if not, its $5/person admission.
