Receiving a check for $36,550 is definitely a highlight of the July 13 School Board meeting

At its July 13 meeting,  District 16 School Board members were pleased to receive a visit from Carlotta Stomberg, representing the Spring Lake Park Lions-School District 16 Foundation.
 
The were further pleased when she officially presented the school district with a check for $36,550.
 
 The check from the Foundation funded scholarships for 40 Spring Lake Park High School students from the class of 2010.

scholarships was presented to 134 seniors at a May 19 event to honor academic letter-winners and local scholarship recipients.
 
The Spring Lake Park Lions-School District 16 Foundation provides scholarships for Spring Lake Park High School graduates and raises funds to ensure a future self-perpetuating source of income. The Spring Lake Park Lions continue to be the chief contributor to the Foundation. However, since the 1998,the Board of Directors has actively solicited other sources for money.
 
The Foundation’s 2009-10 Board of Directors are Dee Dee Hering, Norman Kelzenberg, Jim Kugler, Brooke Magid Hart, Dick Mans, Joe Packey, Mary Steege, Carlotta Stomberg, Colleen Vranish, and Don Wojciechowski.
