Personalized Learning Plans, Grading and Conferences

  • Continue design and phase-in of personalized learning plans (PLPs), initiate implementation of grading enhancements, and enhance communication with parents about student learning while ensuring a timely response when students struggle.

Why: In past years, the district has done a lot of work with assessment for learning practices, and we want to continue to deepen implementation as research indicates these practices have s significant influence on student learning. Thus, we want to continue to refine and provide a clear definition of our grading practices so that there is consistency across courses, and so that students and families understand current levels of learning. In addition, while we have utilized conferences and report cards traditionally, we want to enhance communication and partnership with families, and students, to determine and implement actions that allow students to achieve goals appropriate to their age, positioning them for success in their next step in school or beyond.
